The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of motivational interviewing on the achievement motivation and psychological well-being of students with learning disabilities. The research method was experimental with pretest-posttest design in control group. The statistical population includes all students with learning disabilities aged 9-14 years of Parsabad city who were studying in the academic year 2017-18. Forty students were selected by sampling and were randomly assigned in experimental and control groups. Search tools included Structured Clinical Interviewing, Raven Intelligence Test, Colorado Learning Problems Questionnaire, Hermes achievement motivation Questionnaire, and Reef Psychological Well-being Questionnaire. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance. The findings of the study showed that achievement motivation interviewing had influence on the achievement and psychological well-being of students with effective learning disabilities. Based on these findings, it can be said that motivational interviewing has motivated students to accept change, which in turn led to improve performance of students with specific learning disabilities. Also, given the nature of motivational interviewing, which is an effective and promising counseling style, this method can be used to motivate and improve the mental health of students with learning disabilities.
