Abstract
Objectives: Personalized learning is a promising approach for addressing the diverse needs of children with learning disabilities. This study aimed to identify and categorize the challenges, methods, and practical tools for implementing personalized learning in the education of children with learning disabilities. The present study employed a qualitative systematic review design.
Materials and Methods: To conduct the systematic review, the PRISMA guidelines were used to ensure a comprehensive and transparent approach. The study population included all relevant studies published between 2015 and 2025 (1394–1404) in scientific databases, including PubMed, ERIC, Scopus, ScienceDirect, PsycINFO, ProQuest, the Scientific Information Database (SID), Noormags, Magiran, and the Comprehensive Portal of Human Sciences. Purposeful sampling was applied, and ultimately 159 studies were identified, of which 46 met the inclusion criteria. The findings were organized into three main themes: challenges, methods, and practical tools.
Findings: The results indicated that securing adequate financial resources and funding, teachers’ professional development, eliminating inequalities in access to technology, differentiated instruction, universal design for learning, the use of learning analytics, AI-driven analytics, online learning platforms, assistive technologies, behavioral support technologies, game-based platforms and gamification, immersive technologies, and educational multimedia are among the most important measures for applying a personalized learning approach for students with learning disabilities.
Conclusion: Implementing personalized learning for children with learning disabilities requires addressing infrastructural, professional, and technological challenges. At the same time, adopting innovative methods and tools can improve learning quality and reduce educational inequalities.
